Cookie policy

What cookies and browser storage technologies we use on steers.com.pl and in the client portal, why, and how you can manage them.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files saved by your browser on your device when you visit the website. They usually contain the site's name, a storage period and a unique number that lets the server recognise subsequent requests from the same browser.

Alongside cookies, the website and the portal use the browser's local storage (localStorage, sessionStorage) — technically a different mechanism, but we describe it here because from your perspective it works similarly.

2. Legal basis

Storing information on a user's device is governed by Art. 173 of the Telecommunications Law (Prawo telekomunikacyjne). Consent is not required for files necessary to provide a service requested by the user — and these are the only ones we currently use.

We measure website traffic in Google Analytics 4, but in consent mode (Google Consent Mode v2) with consent for analytics and advertising cookies denied by default. In that configuration the tool stores no cookies and no identifiers on your device, so consent within the meaning of Art. 173 is not required here and we do not show a banner.

Before we enable analytics that stores cookies, or any marketing tools, a consent banner will appear, and until consent is given the necessary files will remain the only ones we save.

3. What we use cookies for

Remembering the language selected for the site, so you do not have to choose it again on your next visit.
Keeping a logged-in user's session alive in the client portal — without this you would be logged out every time you moved between screens.
Protecting forms and sessions against abuse, including CSRF attacks.
Remembering the state of the portal's interface (e.g. expanded sections) in the browser's local storage.

4. List of files

The table below covers files saved by the steers.com.pl website and by the client portal. The names of the portal's session files may change with platform updates — we update this list whenever that happens.

5. Analytics and third-party cookies

We measure website traffic in Google Analytics 4; the provider of the tool is Google Ireland Limited. In our configuration, consent for analytics and advertising cookies is denied by default (Google Consent Mode v2), so the tool stores no cookies and no identifiers on your device.

Google receives: the address of the page visited, the language of the site, the source of the visit (e.g. a search engine or another website), an approximate location derived from the IP address, the device and browser type, and events: submitting the enquiry form and clicking an email address or a phone number. We do not pass the contents of the form to Google — no name, no email address, no phone number and no message text. Google may process this data outside the EEA, on the terms described in the Privacy policy.

You can switch the measurement off: install Google's opt-out add-on for Analytics (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), or block the googletagmanager.com domain in your browser or in a content blocker. You can also object to this processing — an email to the office address given in the site footer is enough.

Apart from Google Analytics we use no third-party cookies: the site has no social-network pixels, no remarketing systems and no embedded video players that would save their own files. We do not profile visitors and do not pass traffic data about the site to advertising networks.

6. Technical data in server logs

Independently of cookies, the server records standard logs: IP address, the date and time of the request, the address of the requested resource, and browser and system type. These serve only diagnostics and security purposes; we keep them for up to 12 months.

7. How to manage cookies

You can delete saved files and block their storage at any time in your browser settings. You will usually find them under "Privacy and security".

Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
Mobile browsers: equivalent settings under the privacy section or in the app's system settings.

8. Effects of disabling cookies

Blocking the necessary files will make it impossible to log into the client portal and for forms to work correctly. The informational website will still work, but you will need to select the language again on every visit.
